New Studies Find What I Already Speculated

I speculated hydroxychloroquine won't help if given too late such as when pneumonia is already setting in or even shortness of breath. I also speculated giving it too early may help the virus build-up inside you, meaning there's a small window of usefulness. Regardless, the evidence suggests the dangers are well known, so it is not a dangerous drug.

There are just too many unknowns, such as why the immune systems of some don't seem to "get it" until too late. If we have symptoms then our immune system is activated for it. But maybe because it starts to use existing antibodies that are mismatched and the immune system does nothing else until it goes nuts when it hits the lungs. We all do have experience with exposure to viruses in the coronavirus family.

Below is the new study showing it did help reduce mortality. You decide.

"Our results do differ from some other studies," Zervos told a news conference. "What we think was important in ours ... is that patients were treated early. For hydroxychloroquine to have a benefit, it needs to begin before the patients begin to suffer some of the severe immune reactions that patients can have with Covid," he added.



"The benefits of hydroxychloroquine in our cohort as compared to previous studies may be related to its use early in the disease course with standardized, and safe dosing, inclusion criteria, comorbidities, or larger cohort. The postulated pathophysiology of COVID-19 of the initial viral infection phase followed by the hyperimmune response suggest potential benefit of early administration of hydroxychloroquine for its antiviral and antithrombotic properties. Later therapy in patients that have already experienced hyperimmune response or critical illness is less likely to be of benefit."


FYI, having antithrombotic properties means that it reduces the formation of blood clots, which is what causes such acute health problems as a heart attack, stroke, pulmonary edema, and deep vein thrombosis. So it helps prevent these acute dangerous events. This is counter to the criminal news media that touted it's dangers to the heart.

Face Masks: Asia vs. U.S.A.

Seeing Japanese people wearing facemasks was a common thing the last time I visited Japan, 13 years ago. Those I saw wearing facemasks were in high enough frequency it was remarkable to me. The Japanese I worked with over there described wearing masks as a proven method to prevent spreading illness and their civic duty to wear them if they're ill. Today you'll see most Japanese wearing facemasks. Could that have contributed to why they have only one case of COVID-19 in every 120,500 people and 30% fewer deaths, while the U.S. has one case in every 12,325 people? We have only 2.6 times as many citizens in the U.S.A. but we have 26 times more geographically area than Japan, making them 10 times as densely populated, and that is conservative given most of the population is in less than half the area. Ultraviolet Radiation on SARS-CoV2

Just sharing my thoughts on the impact of Ultraviolet (UV) light in sunlight on deactivating the Coronavirus. I've read articles and news reports saying sunlight doesn't kill the virus. I think they wrote such simply because Trump said it did. They mentioned the various wavelengths of UV light and how only the shortest are effective at deactivating the virus. They only offered an opinion about its lack of effectiveness against SARS-CoV2 citing past studies loosely relevant to back various points of their opinion. But they did not themselves study the effect of sunlight on the virus. There are three bands (range of wavelengths) of UV light identified based on their interactions with biological material. Understand that a band is a range of wavelengths. The shorter wavelengths are the most dangerous to genetic material.
